GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Joe Barry understands just what’s at stake for him during these last few games as he deals with speculation about his job security. The Packers (6-8) are coming off a 34-20 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in which they allowed Baker Mayfield to have a perfect 158.3 passer rating. Packers coach Matt LaFleur was asked after the game about whether he’d consider removing Barry before the end of the season.LaFleur said Monday he was keeping Barry in place, but that hasn’t quieted the criticism that has dominated Wisconsin sports talk radio this week as the Packers prepare to visit Carolina (2-12).“I read what you guys write,” said Barry, who is in his third season in this role. “I hear what you guys say. But I think that’s again, that’s the great thing about our league. That’s the great thing about the National Football League. It is the top of the top, the best of the best and I think that’s not only an every-year thing, tha...

BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Joe Flacco looks much different, younger and a little less like his new coach. The beard is gone.“It was a mess,” said the Browns’ freshly shaven quarterback. While his facial hair may have been a bit unkempt, and made him a taller lookalike to Browns coach Kevin Stefanski, everything else about Flacco has been neat and polished — if not somewhat shocking — since Cleveland scooped him off his couch in New Jersey four weeks ago to troubleshoot their QB crisis.Flacco has been fabulous, way better than expected. In three games, the 38-year-old has passed for 939 yards, with 374 coming last week, when Flacco, in just his second start at home, shook off three interceptions and led a fourth-quarter rally for a thrilling 20-17 win over the Chicago Bears.Flacco threw for 212 yards alone during a brilliant fourth-quarter performance, highlighted by him threading a 51-yard touchdown pass through three Bears defensive backs to wide receive Amari Cooper. The comeback came i...
